Late gadolinium enhancement is not related to the severity of aortic regurgitation. A single center study

چکیده
Background Myocardial fibrosis as detected by late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) has been linked to adverse prognosis in several cardiovascular diseases. In aortic stenosis, LGE has been linked to worse systolic function and prognosis. In aortic regurgitation (AR), LGE has only been described in small experimental and clinical trials. Objectives: To evaluate the presence of LGE, its relation to left ventricular function and volumes, and the severity of AR in a cohort of patients.

Relationship between Late Gadolinium Enhancement Extent in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Severity of Coronary Artery Disease in Old Myocardial Infarction
Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...
متن کاملMyocardial fibrosis delineation in late gadolinium enhancement images of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy patients using deep learning methods
Introduction: Accurate delineation of myocardial fibrosis in Late Gadolinium Enhancement on Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (LGE-CMR) has a crucial role in the assessment and risk stratification of HCM patients. As this is time-consuming and requires expertise, automation can be essential in accelerating this process. This study aims to use Unet-based deep learning methods to automate the mentioned ...

The echocardiography showed mild dilatation of the left ventricle (end-diastolic volume: 141 ml, end-systolic volume: 66 ml), mild reduction of the left ventricular ejection fraction (53%) with apical ballooning [Figure 1a, yellow arrow], degenerative moderate-to-severe mitral regurgitation [Figure 1b], and moderate aortic regurgitation [Figure 1c]. Sinus rhythm with weak negative T-waves in in...
متن کاملLeft atrial late gadolinium enhancement and mitral regurgitation in subjects with atrial fibrillation
Background Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) is used to evaluate fibrosis of the left atrium (LA) in subjects with atrial fibrillation (AF). LA fibrosis by LGE has been shown to correlate with LA volumes. However, within AF subjects, the association of mitral regurgitation (MR) with LA LGE is not well described. Pathological studies have demonstrated atrial fibrosis and tissue disorganization i...
متن کاملA Rare Case of Severe Aortic Regurgitation with Silent Ascending Aortic Dissection
Classically, ascending aortic dissection (AD) presents as sudden, severe chest pain that is tearing type and radiates to the back. Herein, we present a rare case of severe aortic regurgitation with silent ascending AD, which had no chest pain symptoms. The aortic valve apparatus probably masked this AD; therefore, it was not detected by echocardiography and during the surgery.
